What can you do in a 30A dune lake...
In the summer, when it is as hot as a firecracker and the waves are a little too high for you or the babies, a dune lake is very refreshing. And in the fall, the shallow water can be a little warmer there so you can still get your feet wet.
If you stay by the outflow, there is a light current keeping the water moving and you will see fish and crawdads (or whatever the little crusteceans are) that are most entertaining if you watch them just a little bit.
When the lake first breaks through to the gulf the tannin from the lake makes the water look red and the contrast with the water in the gulf, the white sand and blue sky is stunning. People get nervous if you don't know what it is but it's not anything bad, just tannin. It is a fine thing to see.
Sometimes in the shallows you can see beautiful textures of black and white granite sand sparkling in the sun.
In the early morning you will see lots of birds and sometimes a feeding frenzy where the fresh water mixes into the gulf.
Dune lake outflows are a very fine place to play and explore. Fishing at certain times of the year is good too just make sure you have a permit. Sculpin Jig Pompano floats can help you catch a fish. Stand-up paddling and kayaking is also a fine thing to do on a dune lake. Call Yellow Fin and they will set you up with anything ocean.
