Blue Mountain Days
Today at the beach, I met Sadie from across the bay. Sadie, wearing beach black, was very friendly and happy to say hello to everyone she saw. Her person calls her "the greeter" and the title suits her. They come from Freeport every morning for their walk. We don't like to bring Ri to the beach because, although he graduated top of the class at obedience school, he has no manners at all and runs willy nilly so we let him sleep in on summer days and I kind of think he's happier for it. Anyhow Sadie had nice manners and it was lovely to meet her.
Next I met Chase. Chase is absolute canine eye candy, pretty and soft looking even when wet. But Chase was only interested in something to, well, chase. As far as I could see, she had no other interest in anything or anyone around her this fine morning at the beach. I could have plopped down right next to her with a steak grilled to order and she would not have taken her eye off her person sitting nearby. She seemed pretty sure that her person was just about ready to throw something that she would need to bring back immediately in order to do it again, so they could do it another time. And then maybe again. I understand the look, because our Riley would be content to die of heat exhaustion in order to chase a ball just one more time. I heard a great story yesterday on "This American Life" from comedian Merrill Markoe. I think Chase would completely relate to the thought process. Really, funny. Listen and Laugh ... go ahead.
So after almost 2 days of some pretty serious rain (that we really needed), this 30a day is bright and shiny. The seaweed is easy to avoid, the water clear, the sky bright with white clouds accenting the alternating blue stripes on the horizon. Nice. Oh, and the dune lakes are breaking out with fresh water and there was a lot of bait fish jumping around...there is always something to see.
The American Dream is pictured on the Right.
