Fishing on the Beaches of South Walton
If it's April on 30A then the Cobia are running near the shoreline and the fisherman are out in force. It's fun to watch. Kind of beautiful. I took this shot of the boat from the shore of Blue Mountain Beach.
I was at the beach early, chatting it up with my buddy Dave who is a master shore fisherman. I've written about him before. He makes and sells the sculpin jigs he uses to catch Pompano and we are the happy recipients of fresh fish for dinner when he is here for the winter and spring.
He wades out to the sand bar and casts his line. The water is too cold for me but he doesn't seem to mind at all. If you are ever on Blue Mountain Beach and see him out there, say hello. You'll be glad you did.
