Walton County Promotes Slow Food

Billed as an environmental forum on "Growing Locally with Community Gardens", the Beaches of South Walton our TDC http://www.beachesofsouthwalton.com/ put together a lovely program. Speakers included a Eric Draper Policy Director for the National Audubon http://www.audubon.org/ and representing our own County Extention Service, local food enthusiast "Extention Agent II" Kendra Zamojski http://walton.ifas.ufl.edu/ who both spoke about all the good things that come from local gardening. Kendra is always at the front of the pack advocating we work as a community to grow, sell, and eat locally grown food. The event was held at the E.O.Wilson Biophilia Center http://www.eowilsoncenter.org/ which in of itself holds the making of a wonderful day and catered by Red Bay Grocery http://www.redbaygrocery.com/, we were also given the opportunity to attend ten, count 'em ten, gardening workshops so, in my opinion, this was a perfect day. Reviewing each workshop is just too much for one blog entry but the workshop leaders were very helpful and to a person, I find this small but mighty group of focused individuals are always here to support Walton County Eat Local efforts. I've mentioned them in previous blogs as I will again.

Opportunities like this are the makings of "Blue Wave" living to me.
