Beach Dogs
Walton County is home to some really great dogs. Our dog Ri, neighbors Sky, Buddy and Taffy come to mind. Resident dogs, with a permit, (and if their owners follow the rules like using a leash and picking up after their messes and staying off the dunes), are most welcome on the beach during the best hours of any beach day. Dogs are a big part of the local parades here; well-mannered canines are welcome at many outdoor cafes and venues; they share the bike/ped paths for daily exercise; and Bark Park has been established for leash-free entertainment and exercise. Periodically furry members of the family are captured in paint on the dog mural in Grayton Corners as a fundraiser for neighborhood charities. For beach use permitting info for dogs see http://www.waltontaxcollector.com/subpage.asp?pageID=152 . You can also find info on driving on the beach, another resident only benefit, at that link.
