Blue Mountain Beach Update
Just a note to chronicle what happened last weekend in terms of Gustav. After picking up any loose materials that might get blown around in the wind, on Sunday I went to my open-house at Wild Heron in Panama City Beach. Folks seem to come by on Sunday's so I spend the afternoon there showing an arts and crafts style townhome. I think people are beginning to feel prices have gone low enough to look around again. There were a lot of 30A property sales posted last week always a good sign! We first moved here in 2002 and it was hard to find a place to live. In 2004 there were plenty of 2nd homes to buy but the prices went up too fast. Now that what I call "the everyone went crazy period" is over, things have changed a lot in terms of real estate. I have to say that the feeling of the area is getting back to the way it was when we first got here and that is a good thing. It's back to moving here because you enjoy the beauty and the lifestyle, not because you want to flip your property. Okay, back to comments on the storm. The photo of the week shows you what our Blue Mountain Beach looked like while Gustav passed through the Gulf of Mexico. Obviously it was a double red flag day (the beach was closed to swimming). Sunday night, we went to a neighborhood tavern to see our favorite local band: Hubba Hubba play. So much fun. Duke Bardwell is always great to hear. I get to sing with him on Sundays and some other amazing musicians in choir. Someone is making a movie out of one of Duke's songs...Bayou Country I think. Monday was just overcast and strong surf. Our thoughts are with the folks on the western gulf states who were affected and glad history didn't repeat itself in New Orleans. Thankfully, we really didn't get any heavy rain or wind. In spite of hurricane season, September begins my favorite time of year here. PS: the spider in our garden is a "garden" spider and she is getting very fat.
