Wow - Fall in South Walton

South Walton has become such a popular spot to vacation.

We just finished another busy summer season and truthfully, most of us who live here are usually happy to take a breather just about now. This is simply the best time of the year along 30a. Still warm enough to go to the beach and the promise of cooler weather just around the corner; crisp blue skies to soothe you and stunning emerald and turquoise water to delight you. The railroad vine is blooming along the sand dunes and any minute yellow and purple fall flowers will start their annual bloom in the forest and along the sides of the roads. The butterflies, bees and dragonflies have already started their annual gathering in our yard providing entertainment for me and a fall harvest for the lizards and frogs.

My favorite local events are coming up too. The SWCC Back to Nature event in October; the Halloweener Derby in Seaside; the witches 30A bike ride, and the Alys Beach Halloween party. All very, very fun. Then we all give thanks for our blessings while the pretty white lights are strung up around the seaside shops for the festivities of Christmas. Finally, it will be the Songwriters Festival in January and then we go relatively quiet for a month or so a kind of hibernation to get ready for spring and summer.

Right now though, the town belongs to us lucky residents; a sweet and special time.
