Driving on Grayton Beach

South Walton's 30A loves it's decals. If your business has a cool decal, chances are it will be added to the collection on the back of someone's car, a traveling billboard and a marvelous marketing tool. But the best decal of all is the Walton County Beach Permit. Here's why: 1. If you have that decal it signifies you are a property owner (and how smart is that?) and 2. You are allowed to drive on the Grayton Beach making you a part of a coveted, exclusive club.

We have lived here for a number of years so our beach permit is grandfathered in. As long as we have the property, the all wheel drive and +-$125.00 we can have the annual pass. If we sell our property, our permit goes into the lottery where newer property get the chance to get one. In the last 10 years the population has increased quite a bit and there is only so much room on the beach so the county founders had to come up with an idea to keep the traffic down. If you want to liver here contact Bruce at 850-368-8326 to buy real estate along 30A; a terrific Realtor to work with.

We don't drive on the beach that often, very rarely during the summer season, but when we pick a perfect day, it is really such a treat.  During the warmer months, it's fun to see the cool trucks, decorative umbrellas, and to watch the charter boats go out into the surf. It's always fun to walk down to the dune lakes and the state park. In winter the sunsets are the draw. Late in the afternoon you will meet some fine dogs as resident dogs with a permit are allowed on the beach after hours as well.

And sometimes we stop in at the Red Bar on the way home.

Grayton is Grayt fun.
