What to do if it's raining on 30A

Sometimes it rains. Yep even here along the ever happy 30A corridor it rains. Today it rained like it would never end. We had some gusts of wind that even surprised some of the locals. And just like at home, sometimes weather will  produce issues that are unpleasant. The pool might get dirt and leaves in it. An unexpected leak might show up. You can't get a tan. The folks that just accept the weather and get one with it win. They will have fun; good stories to tell at home, memories to store for later. Some folks let it consume them and it will irritate them and make them miserable. They will waste their money here. The vacationers who fight the concept of the rain suffer. You can see it in their faces, this incredulous look of disbelief. To those who get frustrated by the weather, I recommend patience. The rain might be here a while so it's a good idea to accept it. By that I mean, get a game board or cards out and start playing. Start a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle; they can be consuming and they are good for your brain. Cook a feast. Read a book cover to cover. Get the umbrella out and walk over to the closest restaurant and take your time enjoying the food. Sit on the porch and watch the weather. Watch movies. The boutiques in Gulf Place, Seaside and Rosemary Beach would love to see you. If you really get cabin fever, go to the outlet stores in Sandestin or the movie theatre in Grand Blvd. Go to the Seaside Rep, you should do that anyway. And if there is a break in the weather, even if it is cloudy, the beach is spectacular.

Rain days might be a disappointment at first but when it rains and you are on vacation you have the luxury of enjoying it. You can't change the weather but you can choose to enjoy it. Just a thought.
