Bird Garden

I've mentioned the EO Wilson Biophilia Center before. It is an amazing place, open only to "students, educators and professional audiences". Students from all over the Florida panhandle use the facility on a regular basis for environmental education. I keep my eye open for the opportunity to be a part of this effort whenever it is presented. After getting on center director Christy Scally's volunteer list I had the pleasure of helping to install the bird watching garden, digging holes for the plants that were being installed and spreading pine straw mulch to protect them. It was a delightful morning with a great group of people ending with lunch on the back porch of the facility. An excellent way to spend a beautiful Winter morning.

Christy sent word that the goldfinches, robins and chipping sparrows are already enjoying their special spot.
